Bible/Book Studies:
Just Walk Across the Room - Personal evangelism is a
scary thought to most Christians. With this transforming 4 week study
experience, Bill Hybels urges us to stay attuned to and cooperate with the
promptings of the Holy Spirit by learning to "live in 3-D" - developing
friendships, discovering stories, and discerning the appropriate next steps.
In this study you are assured to discover new insights as you "Just Walk
Across the Room." Tuesday nights, 6:30pm at the Apollo Beach Campus
beginning August 10th.
Inheritance by Beth Moore- The concept of Inheritance isn't
just a subject in Scripture; it is a theme stretching all the way from
Genesis to Revelation. The word "inheritance" or forms of the word
(inherit, heir, heritage) can be foudn in the Word of God no less than 300
times. This 9 week study will stir your faith and help you see yourself as
an heiress in God. Wednesday mornings at 10:00am in the Sanctuary, and
Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm at the AB office, 435 Apollo Beach Boulevard.
Both begin on September 15th.
Strangers in the Land - A six-week guide on immigration,
the church and the Bible. Every Christian is an "undocumented
foreigner" in the world but not of it. How does this inform the
church's voice in the contemporary battle over US immigration laws?
With Strangers in the Land, you'll never view immigration in the same way
again. Lead by Reverend Del McIntosh. Begins Sunday, September 12th
at 9:30am.
Thursday Morning Men’s Group – This men’s devotional group meets every Thursday morning at 7:30 and then go out to breakfast afterwards.
Currently, Bill Hybel's book, Just Walk Across the Room, is being studied.
Body By God – 3 week spiritual and motivational gifts assessment designed to help you identify the gifts that God has given you and how to use them most effectively in your discipleship. This is one of the class requirements in South Shore’s
“Pathway to Membership,” and is offered four
times a year.
Blueprint for Discipleship- This study affirms a foundational element of the Wesleyan tradition and offers a practical guide to United Methodism and helps to learn how to maintain a sense of balance within the Christian faith. This is a class requirement for the
“Pathway to Membership.” Sunday mornings beginning
August 15 at 10:00am.
Enough - Money has great power in our lives. Used wisely,
it is one key to accomplishing our goals, providing for our needs, and
fulfilling our life purpose. In recent years, many of us ignored the
wisdom of the past when it came to managing and spending our money. We
found ourselves spending tomorrow's money today in order to have what we
hoped would satisfy. The result was not greater happiness and
satisfacion, but greater stress and anxiety. Enough is an invitation
to rediscover the Bible's wisdom when it comes to prudent financial
practices. In these pages are found the keys to experiencing
contentment, overcoming fear, and discovering joy through simplicity and
generosity. Sunday mornings beginning August 29th at Panera Bread on 301/Big Bend at 9:30am.
Prayer:
Prayer Chain – This is a 24/7 phone and email ministry
that prays for those requests that become known to them thru prayer request
cards at worship, phone calls to the church office, emails, or by
filling out the prayer request form
Intercessory Prayer Ministry –This group confidentially lifts up others and their needs to God. Intercessors come to the office to pray together once a week. There are several areas of prayer that are covered: the lost, the ill, those with different types of trials in their lives, our church, the staff, church leaders, missionaries, our country, the military, our community, and the ministries of our church. This ministry is open to anyone who feels led by God to intercede on behalf of others and to dedicate one hour a week to praying for the many needs and requests that are made known.
Wednesday mornings, 8:30am at the Riverview campus, Room 105.
Accountability Groups:
South Shore Salt and Light Reunion Groups – these groups are for those who have experienced the Walk to Emmaus spiritual retreat. Two groups are available to join that each meet twice a month; Sunday afternoons and Friday evenings
Social Groups:
Dinners for Eight – Singles and couples meet for dinner in groups of eight; groups are changed quarterly. The host home provides the entrée for the evening and others bring side dishes to share. This is a great way to meet new people in an informal way!

Men’s Cooking Experience – Men get together and pick meals from the menu at
Tasty Dinner Solutions in Riverview. They go together and enjoy fellowship and make meals that they can take home can cook later with the family. What a great way to put points in the love bank to keep the wife happy while you prepare meals for the month. Contact
Teo Leonard if you want to be onthe list for upcoming events.
